Pages of the Past

Preserving Local Stories

Our historical photo books are lovingly curated by Corlette, starting with the 1st Edition of Good ‘Ole Kenton, featuring images and stories collected from locals over the past eight years. The Bushman's River Mouth 1st Edition book is now ready to order. 2nd Edition of Good ‘Ole Kenton also in the works, preserving the history and spirit of these towns, one page at a time.
Meet the Historian & Curator
Hi, my name is Corlette
I’m Corlette, and for over nine years I’ve been collecting images, stories, and memories from locals, preserving the history and spirit of our towns. My journey began with the 1st Edition of Good ‘Ole Kenton, and since then I’ve curated Bushmanrivermouth, with more editions underway, including a Knysna book in progress.
Each photo book is a labour of love, combining careful research, photography, and curation to capture the people, places, and moments that make these towns unique. I’m passionate about telling these stories authentically, creating books that not only preserve history but also spark connection, conversation, and nostalgia, one page at a time.

Corlette

Corlette has always had a love for history, especially the small, intimate moments that tell the story of a town and its people. Over the past eight years, she has wandered the streets of coastal towns, meeting locals who would pull out old photographs from boxes and drawers, many tucked away and forgotten. Sitting with grandparents and families, she listened to their stories, laughed at their memories, and carefully documented each image, preserving both the photographs and the tales behind them. This love and dedication culminated in the creation of her photographic history books, starting with Good ‘Ole Kenton.
Kenton-on-Sea, a charming coastal town in the Eastern Cape, is known for its stunning river estuary, golden beaches, and the friendly, close-knit community that calls it home. Through the lens of old cameras, from simple Brownie box cameras to early family snapshots, Corlette captures the moments these families cherished
birthday parties, holidays, fishing trips, and everyday life, all frozen in time.
Her books are more than just collections of images; they are a window into the past. They allow people who once lived in these towns, or those who know them now, to glimpse the beauty, simplicity, and warmth of a bygone era. Every photo tells a story, not only of a town but of the lives, traditions, and memories that shaped it. With each page, Corlette hopes to share these treasures, keeping history alive for generations to come.
